Welcome Baby Song

There are many milestones in life that are worth celebrating. Whether it be a wedding, a new house, or welcoming a new human into your life. Last August I planned a baby shower along with my good friend, florist and mom-to-be Sarah from Delight Floral Designs. Sarah approached me with an idea of doing a casual backyard theme and we put together this baby shower in less than a month.

Since the shower was in August we decided to do it picnic style by using a wooden skid as the table and giant pillows for guests to get comfy with. The dusty blue denim theme was carried throughout the entire shower from the table linens to the place setting to the almost too pretty to eat desserts. Both Sarah and I love small details and so we made sure there were plenty for her guests to feast on. My favourite detail was the "it's a boy" tag attached to the glass domes followed by the "did you know" blurb which shares a little bit about Sarah and her husband's journey with the little one on the way.

I hope that you guys were able to find some inspiration from this baby shower as it holds many design elements that can be recreated at home. This baby shower is also featured in Mingle's Spring 2018 magazine which is available online or at Chapters.

Cheers!

Daniela & Pieter private backyard wedding

Daniela and Pieter's love story is the perfect example that love always finds a way. Born and raised on opposite ends of the world with Daniela here in Toronto and Pieter from Australia; the two met while living in London, England. Daniela was working on a thesis paper and Pieter was working. While on the same bus one night, being the social butterfly that she is, Daniela decided to ask Pieter how his night was going and the rest was history.

Their intimate backyard wedding had a lot of personal touches. They had a stage built partially over the pool with a tent beautifully decorated with hanging Edison lights. Candles were lit to help compliment the string lights and created that perfect movie-like atmosphere. Daniela's mother even created some floating candle holders for the pool. (She really should get them patent). Guests mingled over live jazz music while they enjoyed a cocktail reception.

The couple's love for travel was clear as guests flew in from all around the world. There were guests from London, Sydney, South Africa, New York, Boston etc. Daniela's two best friends even surprised the couple with a personal canoe paddle that they could take with them on all their future adventures. The paddle was then used as a guestbook where guests left their well wishes. And with that, everyone danced the night away under the stars.
